Today was the cover REVEAL of TRANSFORM- Techy Notes to Make Learning Sticky. It was so exciting to share the first taste of this passion project that Road to Awesome and I have been collaborating on for the last five months. But even more than that, it was another sign of the leveling up process that I have been engaged in for the past 18 months.
When I started writing this book, I had no idea where it would go- I just knew I needed to write it. When I DMed Darrin on December 24th saying that I had a draft of a book manuscript started, I didn't really think anything would come from it. But when I met Darrin for our first meeting and shared the outline and ideas from my book, a spark was ignited that changed my life. He was as passionate about my story as I was and I knew that Road to Awesome was where my book was meant to be published.
If you have ever written a book or plan to, you will find that your book manuscript is like your baby. You spend months cultivating it, making sure it is just right, and it is so hard to let it go, share it beyond your own screen. It requires trust not only in your publisher and editor, but in yourself. I am so fortunate to have had Darrin and Jess Peppard leading me through this process as we took what I wrote and refined it even more. As I look at the edited pages, my book truly comes to life and I cannot thank them enough.
If you think editing is hard, the cover seemed even harder at first. I knew I wanted something that matched what I was sharing on the inside, but didn't know what that was. It's kind of like shopping for a house. You can look at several houses, but when you find that right one. you instinctively know it. Cover design was like that for me. Darrin and Jess did a great job sharing possible cover options with me, and they were nice, but I knew it wasn't just right.
Last Sunday, Darrin and I went through some of the possible options. As we reviewed them, I shared what I liked and didn't like about each one. As we talked author and publisher, he started making changes as I watched through the Zoom screen. We made small changes, one at a time, a font here, a color there. But something was still missing- then we added the middle graphic with all the devices. We both knew we were getting close, yet we were not quite there yet. Adding the icons to the graphic transformed the cover. As we looked at it, we knew we were there!
It meant so much to me to get to work together to build this cover, it embodies true collaboration and is just another example of why I knew Road to Awesome was the right place to publish my book. There are some people who enter your life and you instantly know that they are going to change its course for the better and lead you towards greatness, towards the "Road to Awesome." Darrin is one of those people for me and so many other authors who have joined the RtA family.
So here it is- my beautiful cover! I love it and how it pops! If you missed the cover reveal and Darrin and I talking all things TRANSFORM, I have linked the video below.
The book is coming very soon. I can't wait for all of you to read it and share what resonates with you. Be on the lookout for preordering here and on social media. If you want a signed copy, I will also have a link on this site to order from.
Thank you everyone for your support. None of this would have happened without my amazing PLN!
